FREE Income Tax for Seniors from AARP Volunteers from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and Tax-Aide will be at the Walnut Senior Center every Monday, beginning February 1 through April 12, to offer free tax assistance. Appointments are available from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm. Appointments will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, by phone or in person. Dial A Cab Dial A Cab is a discount travel program for the residents of the City of Walnut. It's perfect for trips to the Senior Center, grocery store, or to local medical appointments. Nutrition Program - Good nutrition supports good health and longevity: Seniors age 60 and older are invited to join us for lunch Monday through Thursday. Meals are served at 11:30 am. There is no charge for the meals but the suggested donation is $2.00. Reservations are required. How to Make Lunch Reservations: Meal reservations are accepted weekdays between 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, in person or by calling (909) 595-0660. Call 2-1-1 211 is an easy to remember three-digit dialing code that enables a caller to access over 28,000 health and human service programs throughout Los Angeles County 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. 211 LA County, formerly known as INFO LINE of Los Angeles, has been providing these services since 1981.
Home Delievered Meals Walnut Seniors currently have access to the YWCA/Intervale Service Home Delivered Meal Program. They deliver frozen meals weekly to the homes of seniors who are homebound and under a doctor's care (one nutritious meal per day is provided). To find out if you meet the criteria for service, please call (626) 858-8382 for more information.
A second program available to Walnut residents age 60 and older who are sick, have a chronic disease, or who are homebound is the Greater La Puente Valley Meals on Wheels. Meals are packaged at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina and delivered by volunteers and supported by minimal contributions from clients and the rest from donors. The cost for two meals per day (one hot, one cold, delivered at the same time) is $3.90. Other criteria apply. Call (626) 333-4570 for more information.

Get Out and Get Going With the Walnut Walkers!  This informal walking club takes advantage of the 26 miles of trails available here in the City of Walnut. Join the club, make new friends, and enjoy the beauty of our local nature (and walking is a great way to improve your health). The registration fee is $5 per person and includes a free visor and pedometer. Every step you take will help the Walnut Walkers in their goal to "walk to the moon"! Older Adult Classes The Walnut Senior Center partners with the Older Adult program at Mt. San Antonio College to bring a variety of free classes to seniors which are held at the Walnut Senior Center.
