The Walnut Sharks Swim Team program is designed for children ages 6 to 18 who are interested in a competitive swim program. The program takes place during the summer and winter season. Children must attend a try-out during which they must meet the minimum requirements set forth by the Sharks’ Head Coach.
RETURNING SWIMMERS: Returning swimmers, those whom have already made the team in within the previous two seasons, must attend a Re-Evaluation on Saturday, May 4, 2013 or Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Both Re-Evaluations will be held at the Walnut High School Pool. Please contact the Walnut Gymnasium and Teen Center for more information. Priority registration will end on Friday, May 17th for all returning swimmers. If A SWIMMER HAS NOT PARTICIPATED IN THE SHARKS SWIM TEAM WITHIN THE LAST TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS, HE/SHE MUST ATTEND TRY-OUTS AS A NEW SWIMMER.
New Swimmers: New swimmers MUST attend try-outs on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 between 6:00pm at the Walnut High School Pool. Swimmers will be contacted 3-4 days after trying out of their status. Team eligibility is determined by the swimmers ability to meet established standards and by team level availability. There are three levels within the team which are based on swimmers’ abilities: Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced.
The Summer season will be begin on Monday, June 10, 2013 and end Saturday, August 17, 2013.
Practices will be held Monday through Friday 7:15am till 9:00am at the Walnut High School pool.
Swimmers attending Summer school will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30pm till 9:00pm and on Fridays from 7:15am-9:00am.
Swim Meets: Swim meets will be held on Saturdays at various venues within the greater Los Angeles area depending on the team within whom the Sharks will be competing against.
Registration: If your child meets all qualifications and if offered a spot on the Sharks Swim Team, he/she must register with the City of Walnut. Registration fees for the Summer Sharks Swim Team is $235.00 per swimmer. Swimmers attending summer school will be able to register for $180.00*
*PROOF OF SUMMER SCHOOL ENROLLMENT MUST BE PROVIDED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION.
The Sharks Swim Team will only participate in Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) sanctioned activities. SCMAF provides the recreational swimmer with great opportunities for new and fun challenges.
